Criteria for
Quality Accessibility
When awarding points
for Quality Accessibility it is necessary to look at the total picture
and not just parts of it. There is no use in providing an accessible parking
space if it is situated on the far side of a parking lot, or an accessible
bathroom that is provided at the bottom or top of a flight of stairs.
Or a ramp that must be accessed via a 6 inch curb at the bottom, or a
step at the top.
Quality accessibility depends on a whole chain of circumstances each of which are important and dependant on the other If one component is deficient it pulls all of the others down with it. In awarding points EQA takes into consideration whether all aspects of the Accessibility chain are within the control of an individual or organization.
Ratings are based on the total percentage of points that are awarded taking into consideration only those criteria that apply to the individual premises. If a ramp is not necessary, it will not be included before averaging the totals. Possibly the parking space is out of an individuals control. For items that are necessary and are under the control of the individual or organization points are awarded accordingly.

5 Points for each Yes Answer.
0 Points for each No Answer.
0-5 Points for special circumstances.
Totals are based on the answers to every question that applies to the premises in question, and the % is based on that total. eg. if the total # of possible points is 125 and the assessment of the premises awarded 90 points, then the percentage wound be 72. .
When N/A is involved those
questions are not taken into consideration when calculating the percentages.
90%- 100% = 5 Stars
80%- 90% = 4 Stars
70%-80% =3 Stars
60%- 70%=2 Stars
50%- 60%=1 Star
